At a time of failing trust in politics and immediately after the Cyprus bail in in March 2013, Fresh Target Theatre continued its collaboration with actor Pip Utton and presented his latest solo show ‘Churchill’. It is 1955, Churchill is 80 years old and is preparing himself for his farewell dinner at 10, Downing Street. The following day he will resign as Prime Minister. He looks back over the triumphs and bitter disappointments of his public and personal life.
All the proceeds from the show were donated to the food charity ‘Angkaliazo’.
‘Churchill is a particularly impressive performance from an actor his whole heart and soul into this role explains. An hour in which laughter and tears go hand in hand’ *****
'With Churchill Pip Utton gives us a touching glimpse of the man, not just the prime minister'
'Pip Utton puts in an assured and compelling performance and, as was said of Churchill himself, his words seem to "bubble up, without notice, without effort". It is indeed a magical hour, and one of Utton’s finest.'
